How is my organization impacted during Proofpoint Essentials maintenance windows?
In addition to our monthly release schedule, Proofpoint is continuously enhancing the Essentials infrastructure for our customers. Maintenance windows are posted on our support site https://support.proofpointessentials.com in advance along with impact details.

Here are some frequently asked questions regarding maintenance.

1. When are maintenance windows scheduled? 

  • Whenever possible, maintenance usually takes place during low-usage hours.

2. Will I be able to access the user interface during the maintenance window?

  • Maintenance does not normally impact the availability of the user interface. However, there may be times when it is unavailable due to the type of maintenance being performed. Proofpoint will communicate the impact as part of the maintenance notification.

3. What happens to mail flow during a maintenance?

  • Maintenance does not normally impact mail flow. However, there may be times when email may be deferred during part of the maintenance window. Proofpoint will communicate the impact as part of the maintenance notification.

4. Can I control what my users see when trying to access the user interface during a maintenance window?

  • No. In most cases users will be able to access the user interface during a maintenance window. In the event that the user interface is not available a generic maintenance message will be posted on the login page.  

5. How does Proofpoint make customers aware of maintenance windows?

  • All maintenance windows are posted to http://support.proofpointessentials.com
  • If the maintenance window will have a noticeable impact to customers Proofpoint may also notify customers via a post-login notification banner (which appears after login to the user interface) and via a PCS notification.
