Active Directory Error Codes

When running a manual sync of Active Directory and set-up configuration there are sometimes error codes and issues that may occur. Below are some of them outlined and potential resolutions before contacting Technical Support.

Issue:

Error - “Could not bind privileged user. Ldap Error Code  =-1 – Can’t contact LDAP server”

Check:

1 – All of Proofpoint Essential IP ranges are correctly whitelisted on your firewall: (Including the 148.xxx breakdown)

2 – Under ACTIVE DIRECTORY CONNECTION SETTINGS the “Username” is a Domain Admin for that domain.

3 – Ensure TLS is enabled. We use TLS version 1.2 at least

Error - LDAP Binding failed with the following error: 'Invalid Credentials' 

Check:

1 -  Confirm that the username and password are correct 

2- Ensure all of Proofpoint Essential IP ranges are correctly whitelisted on your firewall: (Including the 148.xxx breakdown)

Error: Failed to connect to DC (Connection refused). Error Code (111)

Check:

Ensure all of Proofpoint Essential IP ranges are correctly whitelisted on your firewall: (Including the 148.xxx breakdown)
